Shred Event and HHW drop this weekend
The annual Hennepin County Household Hazardous Waste event at Shorewood Public Works, 24200 Smithtown Road (County Road 19) is Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. No electronics are accepted at this event. Get complete drop off information online, or call city hall, 952.960.7900.
In conjunction with the HHW event, the city will host the fall paper shredding event in the city hall parking lot, Saturday, September 22, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. This free event offers residents the opportunity to shred confidential documents. Please no plastic bags or notebooks. Know what to shred and bring items that need shredding for immediate destruction. The event is scheduled until 12 p.m. but will close when the truck is full or in case of dangerous weather. Please call 952.960.7906 for a recorded update.
Draft comprehensive plan
The council has discussed the city comprehensive plan and will now take the draft and put it in final form. The comprehensive plan is a tool used by the city to make long term goals. The draft and appendix are available for review.
Register for public alert
The new public alert system will allow the city to notify residents of water interruption, road closure updates, storm management and other emergency situations. Register all email, landline phone numbers, and cell phone numbers at your residence to get voicemail, email and text messages of situations that might concern you.
- If you do not know your billing account number, use any four digit number and it will updated by the city.
- If you do not have a landline number, put the same phone number in both "Phone Number" and "Cell Number" so you receive both voicemail and text.
- Make sure you add your street address for address specific alerts.
- Each person with a cell phone will need to fill out the registration separately.
Road construction updates
Road construction continues in Shorewood with Mann, Shorewood and Riviera Lanes being reconctructed, and utility improvements affecting Yellowstone Trail, Country Club Road and Lake Linden Road. Summer watering restrictions
Watering restrictions for sprinklers and sprinkler systems are in effect through
September. Please only water lawns, gardens and landscape before 11 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m. daily. Hand watering is exempt. Thank you for conserving water.
Solid waste collection system investigation
The city is checking into the options, advantages and disadvantages of an organized solid waste collection system. Currently four different garbage haulers are available to Shorewood residents.
