Recycling is every other Wednesday on the mainland, Thursday on the Islands. Carts are to be curbside by 7 a.m. Check our Recycling Calendar for a quick reference guide on dates and acceptable items. You may sign up for recycling tips and date reminders online so you never miss a pick-up or text blue to 292929.
If your cart was curbside by 7 a.m. and is not collected by 6 p.m., please report to the city (952.960.7900) or to Republic Services (952.941.5174) by noon the following day to have it collected. Reports after noon may not be able to be collected until the next recycling day.
Yes. There is no charge for an additional or larger cart. The largest cart size is 90 gallon. If this is not large enough you should request a second cart. You may request by email (include your address with the request) or call the city, 952.960.7900.
I need a smaller cart or to get an extra cart picked up.
If you have the largest cart (90 gallon) and would like to request a smaller size, or if you have more than one cart and do not need the extra, please contact city hall, 952.960.7900, and an adjustment will be made on the next recycling day.
Can we have the recycling charge removed from our bill for months we do not live in our home?
The city contracts for the recycling for the entire year. The charge is equally divided among households, so there is not a way to adjust accounts by month. The $14 per quarter charge is also charged to households who make the choice not to recycle for this same reason.
