Zoom and remote meetings:

  1. Remote participation at meetings is not required by Minnesota State law, but the city council finds it would allow people, who are not able to physically attend a council meeting, the opportunity to participate in local government meetings.
  2. The participant must be on camera and be able to be seen and heard by the city council.
  3. The screen username of anyone wishing to participate in a meeting shall be easily identifiable as to the person wishing to participate.
  4. Participation shall be under the same conditions as if the member of the public was physically present at the meeting.
  5. The city shall strive to incorporate interactive technology in its meetings, but if there are issues with the technology or technological problems with a private person's computer or internet, the meeting shall continue, and any council actions taken shall not be invalidated by the absence of interactive technology.
  6. In the exercise of its reasonable discretion, the city council may discontinue remote participation in council meetings.
  7. Planning and Park Commission meetings and council work sessions will continue to be in-person only.
